Ángel Sepúlveda scored both goals as Guadalajara Chivas beat Club América 2-0 in a friendly. The match took place at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum during the international break, offering Gabriel Milito's side a positive bounce-back performance.

The forward opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a handball by Alejandro Zendejas. Sepúlveda added a second with a precise header following a cross from Fernando González. He even had a chance for a hat-trick, but his shot was saved by Luis Ángel Malagón. "He fooled Luis Ángel Malagón -back in action after the injury that kept him out of the 2026 World Cup- and sent the ball into the net with a very subtle touch," the goalscorer said of his first goal.

Gabriel Milito used the game to give playing time to Jonathan Pérez and Efraín Álvarez. Club América, coached by Guillermo Almada, made three substitutions in the second half. The match saw several confrontations and fouls, but no major incidents occurred.

This win comes after the bitter taste Chivas experienced in the recent Clásico Nacional against América in the Apertura 2026, where they let victory slip away. The Rebaño thus exacts a small measure of revenge. The team sits third in the Liga MX standings with 18 points from 10 games.
