Alan Pulido will wear the Guadalajara Chivas jersey again in a legends match on Saturday, October 17. The Mexican forward will take part in a triangular tournament featuring the legends teams of Chivas, América, and Atlas at the Estadio Panamericano de los Charros de Jalisco.

Event organizer Joel Sánchez contacted Pulido to invite him. "What are you doing on Saturday, October 17?" Sánchez asked in the conversation that led to the player's confirmation. Pulido accepted the invitation and will be available for the encounter, which is not part of official professional competition.

This will be the first time Pulido wears the red-and-white stripes since being excluded from the plans of then-coach Gabriel Milito. His second stint at Chivas ended without the expected prominence and the forward has been without a professional team since, though he has not officially retired. He is currently focusing on projects outside football, like his podcast 'Puliendo Talentos'.

Alongside Pulido, Adolfo 'Bofo' Bautista will also play, also recruited by 'Tiburón' Sánchez. Former teammates like Isaac 'Conejito' Brizuela and Carlos Cisneros were involved in the effort to gather the legends. The event offers a nostalgic reunion for fans during a season where Guadalajara Chivas's first team sits third in Liga MX with 18 points, just two behind leaders Toluca. The team enters this legends context in good form, coming off a 2-0 win over América in their last official match.

Pulido's confirmation came via a video on Tuesday, October 6, hours after a promotional image with the phrase 'Ya estamos Puliendo' was posted. A 2-for-1 ticket promotion for the match was valid that same day. The legends match occurs amid an active football context for the club, which is coming off a 2-0 win over América and will face arch-rival Atlas in the next league fixture.

Claudio Suárez, another club legend, recently reflected on what the team needs to succeed. Suárez said that "the Chivas players have to mature to be champions." The triangular on the 17th will serve as a reminder of the talent that has worn the shirt, while the current team, two points behind leaders Toluca, prepares for its next league engagement.
