Ten players called up by Rafa Márquez for the Mexico national team have worn the Guadalajara Chivas shirt at some point in their careers. Six of them are currently part of the club's first-team squad.

The six current Chivas players on the list are Hugo Camberos, Santiago Sandoval, Diego Campillo, Raúl Rangel, Roberto Alvarado and Luis Romo. Roberto Alvarado is actually the team's top scorer this season with three goals in eight appearances.

Four former Chivas men

The other four footballers with a Chivas past are Alan Cervantes, Mateo Chávez, Orbelín Pineda and Armando González. Alan Cervantes, a midfielder developed in the club's academy, debuted with the first team before being transferred to Santos Laguna in 2020 and, since 2024, has played for Club América.

Mateo Chávez, a left-back also from the youth system, now plays for AZ Alkmaar in Europe. Orbelín Pineda, currently with Rayados de Monterrey, won the Liga MX title with Chivas in 2017 and also lifted the CONCACAF Champions Cup in 2018, which earned him a spot in the Club World Cup.

Armando González, a forward who came through the red-and-white academy, became the top scorer champion and earned his call-up for the 2026 World Cup. He was recently transferred to Olympiakos in Greece, where he has already started scoring goals.

This strong presence shows Chivas's role as a talent pipeline for the national team. The squad, managed by Rafa Márquez, prepares for its upcoming fixtures while Guadalajara Chivas sits second in Liga MX with 17 points. The team is in good form, having scored 13 goals in its last five matches. Their next match is a classic against third-placed Club America on September 20.
