Pumas traveled to the Estadio Akron to face Guadalajara Chivas in matchday 8 of Liga MX, and head coach Esteban Solari will be without Cristian Calderón and César Huerta,
Calderón picked up an injury during the match against León and had to be substituted, Record MX reported. Huerta had been nursing a muscular problem in his lower back that already kept him out against León and will also rule him out against Chivas. Álvaro Angulo did not travel with the squad either, though Pumas expect him back for the following fixture against Atlas.
Azuaje to cover the left flank
To fill the gap left by Calderón on the left side, Solari plans to start Ángel Azuaje. Pumas will field a lineup with fewer options against a Chivas side that has looked solid and strong at home this season.
Chivas sit second with a strong run
Guadalajara Chivas arrive as the second-placed team in Liga MX, with 14 points from seven games (four wins, two draws, one loss) and a run of five matches unbeaten (four wins, one draw), reflected in their recent WDWWW form. The Rojiblancos have scored 12 goals and conceded 6 this season and sit just 2 points behind leaders Club America.
In their last outing, Chivas beat Atlético San Luis 0-3 on 5 September, courtesy of an Andrés Sánchez own goal, a Ricardo Marín strike assisted by Ángel Sepúlveda, and a third from Richard Ledezma set up by Marín himself.
The most recent meeting between the two sides ended level: Chivas and Pumas drew 2-2 at the same Estadio Akron on 6 April. Pumas now sit seventh in the table and arrive with the absences noted above.
Solari faces the challenge of getting the best possible result at the Estadio Akron, a task complicated by the confirmed absences ahead of kickoff on Monday, 14 September, in matchday 8.
