'Hormiga' González Moves to Europe? Chivas Agrees to Olympiacos Deal

Greek media reports that Mexican striker Armando 'La Hormiga' González will transfer to Olympiacos, the team from Pireaus, Greece. According to journalist Nikos Kotsis, Chivas has accepted the offer from Olympiacos, which includes 8.5 million euros in fixed payment, 2 million euros in bonuses, and 10% of a future resale.

Details of the Transfer

The agreement between Chivas and Olympiacos is definitive. Kotsis reported that Chivas responded positively to the final offer presented by the Greek team, which includes a fixed payment of 8.5 million euros, 2 million euros in bonuses for performance, and 10% of a future resale for Chivas. If all variables are met, the operation could reach 10.5 million euros.

Final Process

González had already reached a contractual agreement with Olympiacos a few days ago, so Chivas' authorization was the last important step. He is expected to arrive in Greece on Wednesday, August 19, to undergo medical exams, sign his contract, and be officially presented as a new player for Olympiacos.

González's Performance

González has become a key figure at Chivas, winning the Apertura 2025 top-scorer award with 12 goals and finishing the 2025-2026 season with 24 goals in the Liga MX. His performance also opened the door for him to join the Mexican national team and attracted the interest of European clubs, rejecting an offer from CSKA Moscow to play in the 2026 World Cup.

Presentation in Greece

González will make the leap to European football to play for Olympiacos, the most successful team in Greek football and a regular participant in European competitions. Although neither Chivas nor the Greek club has issued an official statement, the operation is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
