Chicharito reveals his dream of retiring at Manchester United
Mexican forward Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández has revealed that he dreamed of retiring at Manchester United, rather than Guadalajara Chivas. In an interview with Rio Ferdinand, Chicharito recalled his time in England and explained that the Old Trafford team will always hold a special place in his career.
Why did Chicharito leave Manchester United?
Chicharito left Manchester United in 2015, after playing for the club for five years. During that time, he scored 59 goals in 157 games and helped the team win two Premier League titles and a Community Shield.
What's next?
Currently, Chicharito plays for Atlético Dallas in the USL Championship, where he is looking to regain his motivation and love for the game after a difficult spell at Guadalajara. At 38 years old, Chicharito is facing one of the final chapters of a career that has taken him to some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
In his second stint with Chivas, Chicharito played 41 official games, scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist between 2024 and 2025. Despite his performance, Chicharito confessed that his last two years with the club were complicated both on and off the pitch.
Guadalajara Chivas' current situation
Currently, Guadalajara Chivas are 12th in the Liga MX table, with 4 points, 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss in 3 games. The team is 3 points behind leaders Club América. Their next game is against Santos Laguna on August 17.
The last time Guadalajara Chivas played was on August 1, when they drew 1-1 with Puebla. In their last series of games, the team has had a record of 1 win, 1 draw and 2 losses.
