Forward Brian Gutiérrez confirmed that América showed interest in signing him, but his decision was already made: to wear the Guadalajara Chivas jersey. At 22 years old, after scoring 11 goals and providing four assists in the MLS last season, the offensive midfielder joined the red-and-white club at a crucial moment, with the team in 18th place in Liga MX (0 points, 0 wins, 0 draws, and 1 loss in 1 game, with a goal difference of -2).
Why did he choose Chivas?
Gutiérrez, born in the United States but with Mexican roots, explained that the club's historical and emotional weight was decisive. "There was interest from América, but I already had the final answer. It was always Chivas," he said. The player, who obtained his Mexican passport at the end of last year, does not occupy a foreigner spot and represents a strategic reinforcement for the team.
His debut and the Clásico Nacional
The forward, who made his debut with Chivas, confessed that he has followed the Clásico Nacional on television since he was a child and now aims to experience it firsthand. "Every classic I watched, that intensity is felt from the outside. I hope to play it and live it on the field," he commented.
